Laphroaig Select is an Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 40% ABV. It is made from a selection of casks: Oloroso sherry butts, American white oak, Pedro Ximénez-seasoned hogsheads and Laphroaig quarter casks.
The American oak brings vanilla sweetness and spice, while the sherry casks add complexity to the peat.
The nose combines iodine, seaweed and smoke with vanilla, green apple and honeycomb. The palate is medium-bodied and slightly oily, with sweet malt and citrus, then briny peat, cracked pepper and creamy oak. The finish is smoky, slightly sweet and a little medicinal.
