Laphroaig The 1815 Cask Legacy Edition is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky made to honour the generations of whisky makers who have shaped the distillery since its founding in 1815. It is a limited release, bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky is first matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, then given further maturation in large new European oak hogsheads, which adds depth, richness and oak character.
The nose combines peat smoke and coastal notes with burnt apricot, raisins and rich oak. On the palate, soft oak meets caramelised dark fruits, dried fruit and warming spice. The long finish brings nuts, peat and oiled wood.
