Leith Bond Benriach 12 Year Old Single Cask 'Go the Extra Mile' (70cl, 54.5%)

A single cask single malt from Benriach, matured for 12 years in a refill bourbon barrel and bottled at 54.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is one of 205 bottles, non-chill filtered and with no added colouring. The release takes the idiom Go the Extra Mile. While Benriach's own production was silent from 1900 to 1965, its floor maltings stayed active, preparing malted barley for Longmorn distillery down the road. The nose opens with dried orange peel, a hint of Walnut Whip cream, fresh honey and malt sweetness. The palate carries on the sweetness with toffee, overripe mango and dried herb butter, leading to a long, sweet finish.
