Leopold Bros. – Michigan Cherry Whiskey (75cl, 40%)

Leopold Bros. Michigan Cherry Whiskey is a Colorado-made flavoured whiskey in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 40% ABV. It starts from the distillery's twice-distilled sour mash whiskey, made from corn and rye, which is blended with the juice of tart Michigan Montmorency cherries and rested in used bourbon barrels. The recipe follows the pre-Prohibition practice of adding real fruit juice to whiskey rather than using artificial flavouring. The nose is ripe, sweet pie cherry with toffee, toasted oak, vanilla and marzipan. The palate begins with tart cherry, then cherry cream, brown sugar and gentle rye spice. The finish is long, with cherry, warm spice and a trace of barrel char.
