Lindores 1494 is a Lowland single malt from Lindores Abbey Distillery in Newburgh, Fife, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The name refers to 1494, the year of the earliest written reference to Scotch whisky, which was linked to Lindores Abbey.
It matures in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels, Sherry casks and wine barriques.
The nose brings orchard fruits, vanilla and sweet malt, with caramel, honey and a little citrus. The palate shows ripe apple and pear, creamy vanilla and honeyed malt, with soft spice. The finish is gently warming, with sweet malt, orchard fruit and a touch of drying oak.
