The first official single malt from the re-established Lindores Abbey Distillery in the Lowlands, bottled in 2021 at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The name MCDXCIV is 1494 in Roman numerals, the date of the earliest written records of whisky production in Scotland, tied to this site. It is a vatting of bourbon, sherry and wine barriques, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour, from a run of 12,750 bottles. The nose shows ripe apple, pear, light honey, vanilla and soft spice. The palate is round and smooth, malty and fruity, with light sweetness and touches of sherry and wine. The finish is medium in length, softly drying, with subtle wood.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
