The 2026 release of Lindores Friar John Cor is a Lowland single malt from Lindores Abbey Distillery in Newburgh, Fife, in a 70cl bottle. It is named after the monk who, in 1494, was commissioned by King James IV to make 'aqua vitae', in the earliest known written reference to Scotch whisky. It was matured in ex-bourbon barrels and Amontillado and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and is bottled at a cask strength of 52.5%. The nose offers dried fruit, orchard fruit, orange peel, vanilla and honey, with toasted nuts and raisins. The palate is full-bodied, with honeyed malt, baked apple, figs and dark caramel, and a nutty dryness from the Amontillado. The finish is long and warming, with dried fruit, toasted nuts and gently drying oak.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
