Lochlea First Release is a Lowland single malt bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is bottled without artificial colouring or chill-filtration.
The spirit matured in first-fill bourbon casks and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.
The nose is malty and nutty, with plenty of cereal and muesli, a little cut grass, apple and pear, vanilla and new wood. Black pepper and a faint raisin note sit behind. On the palate, apples and rich honey arrive with vanilla cream, then warming pepper, fresh oak and a malty backbone, with some dried fruit. Medium in body, it ends dry and woody.
