Lochlea – Our Barley

Lochlea Our Barley is the first core range single malt from the Lochlea Distillery in the Lowlands. It was created by distillery manager and master blender John Campbell, who took up the role in November 2021. Three cask types are used: first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, STR casks and ex-Oloroso sherry butts. Together they add vanilla, caramel, flowers and dried fruit, for a round, deep profile. It is bottled non-chill-filtered and at natural colour. The colour is gold bronze. The nose brings pear syrup, fruit sweets, warm cut grass and marmalade. The palate has molasses, pepper, rye bread and macadamia nuts. The finish is long, with a lingering orange and beeswax note.
