Lochlea Our Barley is the Ayrshire distillery's permanent single malt, in a 70cl bottle at 46%. It is not chill-filtered and has no added colour.
It marries whisky from first-fill bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry casks and STR barriques. John Campbell, Production Director, developed the recipe, and it sits alongside the distillery's limited seasonal editions. The barley is grown on Lochlea farm, where distilling began in August 2018.
On the nose are pear syrup, fruit sweets and warm, freshly cut grass. The palate brings golden syrup, pepper, rye bread and macadamia nuts, with a hint of cream soda sweetness. The long finish is citrus-led, with orange and beeswax.
