Lochlea – Our Barley (70cl, 46%)

Lochlea Our Barley is the permanent core single malt from the Lochlea farm distillery in the Lowlands, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It came from the cask recipe refined by John Campbell and a blind tasting with the distillery team. The whisky is matured in first fill bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry butts and STR barriques, which are wine casks that have been shaved, toasted and recharred. The nose is strong pear syrup and fruit sweets, followed by hints of spicy marmalade and cinnamon. The palate has fresh fruit and cereal with rich light syrup. The finish brings macadamia nuts, cream soda with vanilla, and a lingering note of orange beeswax.
