Ploughing Edition is the final bottling in Lochlea's Third Crop series of seasonal small batch whiskies. It is a Lowland single malt from the family-run Lochlea Farm Distillery in Ayrshire, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colouring.
The edition represents winter, the season of ploughing. It was matured entirely in 200-litre ex-Islay casks, which bring coastal smoke alongside Lochlea's fruity character.
Fresh green apples, malted biscuits and cereal come with salty sea notes and gentle peat smoke on both nose and palate. The finish is long and harmonious, with spicy smoke and a touch of sweetness.
