This is the Second Crop release of the Sowing Edition, the spring bottling in Lochlea's seasonal series. Lochlea is an independent distillery in the Scottish Lowlands, and the series follows the farm's yearly cycle from sowing to harvest to winter.
The whisky matured mainly in first-fill bourbon casks, together with a selection of STR casks (shaved, toasted and re-charred). The barley comes from the distillery's own farm.
The nose is fresh, with green apple, pear and lemon zest alongside vanilla, malt and sponge biscuit. The palate is creamy, with vanilla custard, honey, ripe apple and apricot. The finish is medium in length, with malty sweetness and gentle oak.
