Lock Stock & Barrel 21 Year Old is a straight rye bottled at 55.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is the fifth and oldest release in the Lock Stock & Barrel series from Cooper Spirits.
The spirit comes from Canadian rye stocks made by Alberta Distillers, from a mash of 100% rye, double distilled in copper pots. It was distilled and barrelled in May 1999, then aged for 21 years in new charred American oak in cold weather. It is unfiltered and comes in an opaque black bottle inside a wooden box charred in the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban style.
The nose offers warm spiced date cake, treacle toffee, orange peel and baking spices. The palate is full-bodied and viscous, with treacle, caramel, coconut, cocoa, cinnamon and anise. The finish is long, with leather, oak, a little smoke and dry rye spice.
