WhistlePig 18 Year Double Malt 3rd Edition is a straight rye whiskey released in 2021 at 46% ABV (92 proof), in a 750ml bottle. It comes in a Simon Pearce crystal decanter with a hand pressed glass topper.
The spirit was distilled at Alberta Distillers in Canada from 79% rye, 15% malted rye and 6% malted barley, then aged for 18 years in new American oak with no secondary finish. It was aged and bottled at WhistlePig Farm in Shoreham, Vermont, and is certified Kosher.
The nose is toasted oak, berries, nutmeg and red apple, opening to toasted walnut, rye bread and tangerine peel. The palate is silky and spicy, with French vanilla, clove and allspice. The finish is long and spicy.
