Long John Special Reserve is a blended Scotch whisky from the 1980s, in a 1 litre bottle. Long John used to sell heavily in France.
It is deep gold in colour. The nose starts dry and tea-like, then turns malty and chocolatey, with hints of old roses, sandalwood and orange.
The palate is punchy, malty and peaty, with notes of bitter chocolate and a big body. The finish is fairly long and still malty, with roasted peanuts.
