Longmorn – 1966/2021 55 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection (70cl, 41.6%)

This is a 55 year old Speyside single malt from Longmorn, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Private Collection. It comes from a single first fill sherry butt, number 609, and was filled into 319 bottles. The whisky was distilled on 1 February 1966 and bottled on 15 November 2021, at 41.6% ABV. It is natural in colour and not chill-filtered. The long maturation gave it a deep mahogany colour. On the nose there are dark cherries, brown cane sugar, vanilla and cinnamon, with cherry cake and plum jam. The palate brings raspberries, ripe cherries, candied orange, oak spice, liquorice and tobacco, and the finish is very long, with oak spice, dark fruit and a lingering sweetness.
