A single cask Longmorn from the Private Collection of Gordon & MacPhail, distilled in 1966 and bottled in 2019 after 53 years. It matured throughout in a first fill sherry butt, which gave a dark mahogany colour. The cask yielded 398 bottles at 46%, and the whisky is neither coloured nor chill-filtered. It was released as part of the 2019 summer collection.
The nose offers sweet fruit cake, brown sugar and sticky prunes with candied citrus peel, cinnamon and clove, plus vanilla, red berries and a touch of oak smoke. Pickled dark fruits meet peppery spice on the palate, with blackberry, ripe cherry, liquorice, dried tobacco and oak. The long finish leaves spiced fruit, charred oak and a faint ash note.
