Longrow 100 Proof Batch 2 (70cl, 57.1%)

Longrow 100 Proof Batch 2 is the second release in the 100 Proof series from Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown. It is a heavily peated, double-distilled malt, matured for about four years in bourbon casks and then for roughly two and a half years in Rioja red wine casks. It is bottled at 57.1% ABV, the equivalent of 100 proof on the British scale, without chill-filtration or added colour. The nose brings red currants, Madagascar vanilla, salami and peppercorns with an ashy note throughout. On the palate the peat smoke builds alongside tobacco, cigar smoke, dark fruit and leather. The finish turns spicy, with chilli and cherry menthol, while the peat smoke lingers.
