Longrow is the double distilled, heavily peated single malt made at Springbank in Campbeltown, first distilled in 1973. This is the 18 year old, a limited edition bottled in 2017 at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It is reportedly a vatting of 60% whisky from refill sherry casks and 40% from bourbon casks, with 4,500 bottles released.
The nose combines sweet fruit, vanilla and oak with smoke and maritime notes. The palate is creamy and oily, with grapefruit, passion fruit, caramel and red fruits. The finish is long and dry, balancing salty smoke with a subtle dark fruit sweetness.
