A single cask Longrow, distilled in 1999 and bottled in 2022 after 23 years in a refill sherry butt. It is bottled at 58.1% in a 70cl bottle, from a run of 546 bottles, without added colouring or chill-filtration.
Longrow is the most heavily peated whisky of the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown, with the malt dried over peat smoke for 48 hours. Here that smoke meets a clear sherry influence.
The nose offers citrus, peaches and orange peel before a lightly earthy peat note. On the palate come dark chocolate, creamy coffee and gingerbread, then rhubarb and vanilla custard. The finish is long and sweet, with a touch of peat smoke, more chocolate and some dried fruit.
