Longrow Burgundy Wood Expressions is a 14 year old Campbeltown single malt from Springbank Distillery, part of the Wood Expressions series. It was distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2011 at 56.1% in a 70cl bottle, with an outturn of 7,800 bottles.
The whisky spent 11 years in refill bourbon casks, followed by 3 years in first fill Burgundy casks.
The nose is maritime and salty, with smoke, vanilla and red fruit. The palate is oily and soft, with sweet strawberries, nutmeg, vanilla, biscuits, cocoa, smoke and a little salt. The finish is very long and complex, with strawberries, biscuits and a little peat.
