Antico Amaro di Serravalle is a Piedmontese herbal amaro made by the Inga family at Serravalle Scrivia. The recipe traces back to a medicinal elixir developed by a Capuchin friar in the 1700s, and it later found its way into the family's handwritten recipe book.
More than 22 herbs, roots and tree barks go into it, in proportions the family keeps secret. They are infused in alcohol and water for at least two months, and the recipe has stayed the same since. It has been made by five generations of the family at the same site.
The result is black in colour, spicy and velvety, with a harmonious balance. It comes in a 75cl bottle at 30% abv.
