Lucien Foucauld VS is a French cognac made from Ugni Blanc grapes, double distilled in copper pot stills and matured in French oak from the Limousin and Tronçais forests. It is bottled at 40% vol in a 75cl bottle.
The two oak origins give the VS a layered wood character: Limousin tends towards spice and firmer tannin, while Tronçais adds a softer, silkier vanilla.
The nose shows ripe apricot and peach with dried fruit, oak and a hint of liquorice. On the palate the stone fruit carries into vanilla and gentle baking spice, kept in check by light tannins. The finish is persistent, with liquorice, dried fruit and a little warmth.
