Mac-Talla Red Wine Cask is an Islay single malt matured in red wine casks and bottled at 54.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is a limited edition of 600 bottles, made for German whisky fairs, and is non-chill-filtered and free of added colouring.
The casks previously held fine wines. They bring dark fruit, a gentle sweetness and a velvety texture, while the Islay smoke stays present.
On the nose, pronounced Islay smoke meets ripe plums and overripe grapes, followed by dark fruit and a touch of wine sweetness. The palate is full and dense, with stone fruit, dark chocolate and ripe fruit. The finish is long, with spicy depth, dark chocolate and lingering peat smoke.
