Mac-Talla Limited Edition Virgin Oak (53.8%)

Mac-Talla Limited Edition Virgin Oak is an Islay single malt from Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, bottled at 53.8% abv. It was matured in 27 American virgin oak casks from the Kelvin Cooperage in Kentucky. The spirit is peated, and the new oak is described as softening the smoke and adding depth, which gives a sweeter, richer whisky that is still smoky. It is the first time virgin oak has been used in the Mac-Talla core range. Tasting notes mention deep oak, caramelised apples and muscovado sugar on the nose. The palate offers smoked oak, warm baking spices, sticky toffee pudding and buttery toffee, followed by a long finish of woody smoke.
