Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Years Old is a single malt from Speyside, matured for at least twelve years at the Macallan Estate. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The maturation is mainly in European oak casks prepared with sherry in Spanish bodegas, which give the whisky its natural colour along with dried fruit, ginger and oak spice.
The nose shows dried fruit and candied citrus peel, with oak, ginger and nutmeg, then vanilla, sherry sweetness and a little wood smoke. On the palate, raisins and sultanas meet ginger syrup, followed by sweet cinnamon. The finish is long, with oak, warming ginger and sweet toffee.
