This is a Macallan single malt aged 12 years and matured in sherry oak casks. It is a distillery bottling in the Old Label livery, at 43% in a one-litre bottle.
Macallan stands at Easter Elchies, Craigellachie, in Banffshire on Speyside. Its founder, Alexander Reid, received the distilling licence in 1824.
The nose brings gooseberries, dark jam, vanilla, a little cinnamon and honey, with a hint of citrus and ginger. The palate is mature sherry, complex and slightly bittersweet, with orange, mandarin and toffee. The finish is medium in length, soft and a little fruity, with orange, mandarin, cocoa, toffee and plenty of sherry.
