Macallan – 18 Year Old 1979 Gran Reserva

This 18 year old Macallan comes from the Gran Reserva range. It was distilled in 1979 and bottled in 1997, and the Gran Reserva bottlings were released between 1997 and 2002. For much of the 20th century Macallan was used mainly as a constituent malt in blends. The distillery turned its attention to its single malt after the market downturn of the 1980s, and in 2018 opened a new distillery within the Easter Elchies estate, with 36 copper pot stills.
