This is a Macallan from the 1950 vintage, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2009 as part of its Speymalt range. It matured for almost six decades in a refill sherry butt and was bottled at 43% ABV.
The nose offers raisins, dates and ripe orange, with vanilla, leather, nuts and polished oak. The palate is silky and deep, with dried fruit, chocolate, caramel, spice and sherry-cask wood. The finish is very long and dry, with dark fruit and aged oak.
