A 29 year old Macallan from a single butt, at 45.5% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was filled into a Spanish oak sherry cask on 10th November 1976 and takes all of its colour from the wood.
The nose brings toffee apple, dates and vanilla over cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg, with peat-tinged woodsmoke and polished oak behind. On the palate, wood spice and smoke meet peaches and dates, and the finish carries dried fruit, spice and oak.
