This Macallan was distilled in 2001 and matured for 23 years in a single refill sherry butt. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it from cask 5101 in 2024 for its Speymalt series, in an edition of 495 bottles.
It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 58.8%, without colouring or chill-filtration.
The nose brings Seville orange, stewed fruit, cinnamon, dark dried fruit, raisins, sherry spice and polished wood. On the palate are Seville orange, cinnamon and rich fruit compote, with demerara sugar, dark chocolate and peppery spice. The finish is lasting, with Medjool dates, figs, raisins and spicy oak.
