Macallan – 2003/2024 Gordon & MacPhail Speymalt #11552 (70cl, 60.1%)

This Macallan from the Speymalt range is a single cask Speyside malt, distilled in 2003 and matured for more than two decades in sherry cask 11552. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it in 2024 at a cask strength of 60.1%, filling 593 bottles. Every bottle of this edition comes from that one cask rather than a vatting of several. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The nose brings stewed fruits and Christmas spices with a hint of orange peel. On the palate it is spicy, with baked apple and raspberry compote and a subtle note of aniseed. The finish is long, with ripe oak and a touch of black pepper.
