This is a 31-year-old single cask Macallan, distilled in 1991 and chosen from the Duncan Taylor warehouses by Sir Nick Faldo. Only 75 bottles were filled, in 70cl, at a cask strength of 48.5%, not chill-filtered and without added colour. After its original Oloroso maturation, the whisky spent its final months in a sherry octave cask, part of the Duncan Taylor Octave range, where the smaller cask means more contact between wood and spirit. The nose is sherried fruit, with plum compote, vine fruits and sweet creamy chocolate. The palate opens sweet with spicy oak and rich fruit, and toffee and leather arrive late. The finish is clean, the spice fading to a warming sweetness.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
