Macallan Tree of Life is a 46 year old Speyside single malt from 1979, matured in sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez de la Frontera in Spain. It is a limited edition in a 70cl bottle.
The age was chosen deliberately: it marks the age of 46, when the Scottish architect, designer and artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh reconnected with nature completely. Tropical fruits, complex wood spice and notes of antique oak are described as showing the whisky's age.
It comes in a Lalique crystal decanter, finished with a crystal rose stopper inspired by Mackintosh's 'The Spirit of the Rose' stained-glass panel.
