This single cask Macallan was distilled on 10 November 1950 and filled into a refill sherry butt. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it on 29 September 2009 after 58 years of maturation, at 43% in a 70cl bottle, as part of its Speymalt range. It carries no added colour.
The nose combines sultanas, prunes and figs with old leather, waxed wood, furniture polish, baking spices and baked red apple. The palate is silky, soft and deep, with roasted malt, dark fruit cake, creamy caramel, rum-soaked raisins, liquorice and earthy spice. The finish is medium to long, with dried red apple, redcurrants, figs and a fine touch of earthy peat smoke.
