Macallan – Aera (70cl, 40%)

Macallan Aera is a single malt first released for the Taiwanese market, bottled at 40% in a 70cl black bottle. It is a limited edition. It matured in oak casks from southern Spain. The wood was air-dried for four years, made into casks and left to rest for two more, then filled with sherry for two years before being shipped to Scotland to hold the whisky. The nose offers dried and candied fruit with vanilla, orange peel and a little sweet citrus. The palate brings chocolate, dried fruit and citrus-laced honey, and the vanilla lingers through a fairly long finish.
