This is the eighth annual edition of Macallan Classic Cut, bottled in 2024 at a cask strength of 52.4% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The whisky was matured in sherry-seasoned casks of European and American oak, together with ex-bourbon casks. Adding water to reduce it to about 40% brings out tropical fruit and lemon, while neat the vanilla comes forward with citrus peel and sweet oak.
The nose has rich vanilla, orchard fruit and marzipan with citrus peel, fresh herbs and sweet oak. The palate brings baked vanilla custard, milk chocolate and green apple, kept in balance by spicy oak. The finish is long and sweet, with orchard fruit, vanilla, caramel and blossom honey.
