Macallan – Rare Cask Black (70cl, 48%)

Macallan Rare Cask Black is a Speyside single malt bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was made from a marriage of fewer than 100 casks, and it is a peated expression from a distillery not usually known for peat, pairing rich smoke with Macallan's sherried character. The nose is tobacco-rich smokiness with old oak spice, pepparkakor ginger biscuits, fig jam and buttery sultana scones. The palate brings damson, dates and Demerara sugar, with earthy, herbaceous peat that emerges slowly. The finish mixes dark chocolate, fresh ginger and a whiff of bonfire smoke.
