An 18 year old single malt from The Macallan, matured in Speyside and sold in a 750ml bottle.
Double Cask begins with new American oak that is shipped to Spain, where the casks are made and seasoned with sherry. After at least 18 years of maturation, the whiskies are combined with European sherry seasoned oak casks. The colour is natural, an amber honey.
The nose brings dried fruits, ginger and toffee, with rich orange and hints of clove and nutmeg. The palate has raisin and sultana, caramel, vanilla and ginger, balanced by wood spice and zesty citrus. The finish is warm oak spice and ginger turning to sweet orange.
