The Macallan Classic Cut 2023 Edition is a high-strength Highland single malt from Scotland, bottled at 50.3% ABV. It was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon American oak and sherry-seasoned European oak casks.
The release is built around adding 'one cut' of water. At full strength pear is the prominent character of the spirit. Water brings the strength down to 40%, and almond biscotti steps forward.
The colour is golden barley. The nose is pears and elderflower with light almond and rich vanilla pod. The palate is sweet and creamy vanilla, juicy pears and lemon peel with delicate oak, and the medium finish carries sweet oak and almond biscotti.
