The Macallan Double Cask 12 Year Old is a Speyside single malt, bottled at 43% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
It is matured in Oloroso sherry-seasoned casks of both American and European oak. The American oak brings sweetness to the front, while the richer fruit, sherry and wood spice of the Macallan style sit behind it. The colour is described as Harvest Sun.
On the nose there is creamy butterscotch, toffee apple, candied orange, vanilla custard and freshly cut oak. The palate is honeyed, with wood spice, citrus, raisins and caramel, and the finish is warm, sweet and drying, with oak lingering.
