This is a 20 year old Speyside single malt bottled at 44.8% ABV, and the third chapter of The Macallan's TIME Collection, which followed TIME and TIME Mastery from the distillery's 200th anniversary celebrations. It comes in the collection's circular decanter.
Most of the whisky was matured in sherry seasoned European oak, with a smaller share of American oak. It was then married in bespoke casks seasoned with Valdespino sherry, the first Macallan influenced by casks from the Jerez house now under its ownership.
The nose is sherry-soaked fruit with dark chocolate truffles, cinnamon and ginger. The palate offers sultanas, dates, apricots, ginger cake and treacle toffee, and the finish is long and warming, with espresso and oak.
