An Aba is the signature expression of Macaloney's, a lightly peated, sherried Canadian whisky in a 75cl bottle at 46% ABV. It measures 11 PPM, and is natural colour and non-chill filtered.
It is a marrying of Kentucky bourbon casks, Spanish oloroso barriques, Portuguese shaved-toasted-re-charred red wine barriques, virgin American oak casks and Spanish Pedro Ximénez casks.
The nose shows light peat, fresh pine, orange liqueur, lemon sherbet, rum and raisin fruit cake and ripe banana. The palate is creamy, with medium peat, bonfire embers, prunes, dried figs, marzipan and lingering oak. It finishes dry, with light peat and a seaside character.
