Macaloney's An Aba is a lightly peated Canadian single malt from Macaloney's Island Distillery in Victoria, British Columbia. It is the distillery's signature expression, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky is matured in a mix of casks: Kentucky bourbon, Spanish Oloroso, Portuguese red wine STR, virgin American oak and Pedro Ximénez. Gentle peat smoke sits alongside citrus, tropical fruit, chocolate and malt.
The nose has light peat, pine and oak with orange liqueur, lemon sherbet and rum-raisin fruit cake. The palate is creamy, with peat and bonfire embers followed by prunes, dried figs and apricots. The finish is dry and lightly smoky, with oak and marzipan.
