Na Braiche is the unpeated red wine expression from Macaloney's, a Canadian single malt made on Vancouver Island. It is matured in Portuguese red wine barriques and bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour.
The distillery is in Saanich near Victoria, using Canadian barley and island water, and distils in hand-hammered copper stills by Forsyth's. Na Braiche is unpeated, at 0 PPM.
The nose is ripe red berries and tropical fruit with toffee, toasted oak and wood spice. The palate is soft and creamy, with fruit cake, honey, citrus, dark chocolate, juicy malt and a hint of sea salt, and spice builds. The finish is long, led by oak and spice.
