The Peat Project WA-RW is a heavily peated Canadian single malt from Macaloney's Island Distillery in Victoria, British Columbia, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle.
The malt is made with peat from Washington State's Olympic Peninsula and measures around 54 PPM. It was matured in a re-charred Portuguese red-wine barrique, which gives the bottle its RW name.
The nose combines earthy peat smoke, red fruit, vanilla, toasted oak and subtle floral notes. On the palate, rich smoke sits with sweet fruit, vanilla, oak spice and hints of dark berries. The finish is long and warming, with lingering peat smoke and gentle spice.
