This is the 2024 edition of MacPhail's 30-year-old, a Speyside single malt bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It was released in summer 2024.
The whisky comes from a small batch of sherry casks and is bottled without colouring or chill filtration. It is the first 30-year-old in the MacPhail's range for some time, and the first at this strength.
The official notes describe stewed fruit with apple, roasted nuts and subtle chocolate on the nose, along with honeycomb and dried apricot. The palate starts spicy, then brings blackberry, raspberry, apple, milk chocolate, tangerine and oak. The finish is medium, with hints of menthol and lasting cocoa.
