Maker's Mark Cask Strength Batch 23-06 is a wheated Kentucky bourbon in a 70cl bottle, bottled at barrel proof. This batch is 54.75% ABV (109.5 proof), within the 108 to 114 proof range of the expression, which varies with the barrels. It is screen filtered to remove wood pieces and char before bottling. The distillery turned to a barrel-strength release after tasting Maker's Mark 46 straight from the barrel. It keeps the front-of-the-palate character of the standard bottling, with more vanilla and rich oak. The nose opens with rich oak, then vanilla and caramel. The palate is robust and warm, with caramel, vanilla and spice. The finish is long at the front of the tongue, with no harsh bitterness.
