Malts of Islay 36 Year Old is an Islay blended malt from the 1989 vintage, bottled by Murray McDavid. It combines Bowmore and Laphroaig and was finished in an Oloroso sherry cask.
The nose is soft peat smoke with violets, lavender, a salty undertone, dark dried fruit, figs, sea air and seaweed. On the palate, smoky sweetness meets sherry, honey and candied orange, followed by spicy peat and a medicinal note.
The finish is long, spicy and maritime, with smoke, sherry, cocoa, leather and tar.
